Export file list to txt10/23/2023 Looking for a certain command or method that I can do every other month to maintain that text file. No manual copying and pasting is required for this method. You can utilize the Command Prompt to create a simple text document that includes all the files within a specific folder. I have tried other options such as Command Prompt tree command and dir command but doesn't give me a clean output. This action copies objects from your workspace and exports them to a local directory. The Command Prompt is one of two command-line interpreters in Windows 11. I would like something similar to the following output in the text file. The command was: Get-ChildItem | tree > Music_Structure.txt I did some searching and found the following command used in PowerShell to acheive an output like I desire but it doesn't give me the filelist inside subfolders. Note: I only want to copy the structure and layout of the folder and it's subdirectories and files, not the actual file. Run below commands In below examples, C:\Main-Folder\Folder> is the folder path dir > is the command C:\Main-Folder\list.txt is the path for output text file. You can combine with Select-Object to specify the properties to select, and Export-Csv or Out-File to create a csv/txt file. I want to be able to copy the folder structure of my Music folder (100 GB+) to a text file including the files within the nested folders. Before using the commands, do below steps Open Command Prompt Goto the folder path from where you want to list the files. You just need to use tree /F and then it will include the files in the folders. Use the -Directory flag to get only folders, -Recurse to include subfolders, and -Depth to control how far down to go.0 is current directory folders, 1 includes their subfolders etc. I am trying to export the folder structure and it's files of my portable hard drive to a text file to have offsite access.
